    ‘PK’ becomes First Indian Film to Gross Rs. 100 Crore from Online Bookings

    It seems like Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’(2015) movie is not stopping from creating new records in all time Bollywood history. Now it starts a new Rs. 100 Crore Online movie club by grossing that much of amount only from online ticket bookings.

    This proves that online booking economy of India is growing exponentially, and it can’t be ignored in upcoming days for sure. With the rise of online ticket booking apps like Book My Show and all, the trend for booking movie tickets online is already a hit. So ‘PK’ grossing Rs 100 Crore from online ticket booking isn’t surprising at all. 

    PK becomes first film to gross 100 crore via online ticket sale

    Currently BookMyShow is ruling the online entertainment ticketing platform with more than 90% market share. It recently provided a report to TOI announcing their revenue of Rs. 102 Crore only from the bookings of Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ movie as of 28th January.

    Interesting part is that this online collection is around 25% of ‘PK’s total collection from Indian Box Office and around 17% of its gross worldwide collection which includes the overseas market too. Till date PK is the most successful Bollywood film ever with revenue of 600 Crore plus online.

    BookMyShow also reported that ‘PK’ (2015) movie outclassed its nearest competitor ‘Dhoom 3’ by a huge 50% in online ticket sales. ‘Dhoom 3’ collected Rs. 47 Crore from online sale, while the other top grossing (online ticket sale) Bollywood movies are ‘Happy New Year’ (36 Crore), ‘Kick’ (31 Crore) and ‘Chennai Express’ (30 Crore).
